Visitors to our soap stand often ask us why our soap is so special, why
they should buy from us instead of the soap vendor down the street or
across the continent. These are valid questions, and while we think our
soap is top-notch, we are also terribly biased. So instead of taking our
word for it, we encourage you to check out some product reviews and
testimonials: |

Review from Joanna at "The Soap Bar" blog
Sandstone has an amazing texture. It
feels extremely exfoliating but with a fine sand-like texture. I loved it!
I love exfoliating bars, and this one may be my favorite so far. Small
sandy pumice and ground apricot seed makes my skin sing, and it's
softening because it's packed with shea butter to condition the skin...Read

Review from Xuanie, xuan-e-xuan beauty product blog
I've been using the Union Street
Soaps for a few days, and I got to say I'm impressed. First off I just
used the [Mint Mélange], and it smells
just great...I used to use bar soaps all the time
since that's the only thing my parents would buy, and it would just dry
out my skin and make it really itchy. But the Union Street Soaps did no
such thing, my skin felt as if I used a cream and it did not make me itch
at all....Read

Review from
Mayaari, beauty and skincare product aficionado
I decided to try the Healing Bar...It
soothes and treats dry skin, eczema, and blemish-prone skin, and can be
used as a face wash. ...earlier this
month my skin had a bad eczema reaction. I'm talking about dry, itchy red
cheeks, dry skin around my eyes, and even after putting on the gentlest
moisturizer, my face would burn. Switched up my skincare routine for
gentler products, and I've been using this bar twice a day to wash my
face. I love it!...It lathers up great, and cleanses my skin without
stripping it of too much oil. I would definitely get more of this soap
whenever I run out...Read

TESTIMONIALS |
I bought your soap from the Columbia Pike
Farmer's Market about a month ago. I wish you guys could see how much my
skin has turned around. It is not an exaggeration to say that my
boyfriends liked me despite my skin. Others stared when I wore shorts or
asked me if my "skin condition" was contagious, children asked me if I
was sick, and people withdrew in shock after touching my skin.
I just threw away $250 worth of Shiseido skin care products. I cried a
little inside, but never thought that all these years, my struggles with
awful skin would end with a seemingly innocuous, all-natural bar of $5
soap. I was skeptical and thus tried out the soap for a month before
writing, even though I began to see drastic results within a week. I
have always had skin problems, namely with eczema, rosacea, and some
strange phenomenon of acne-like bumps, ingrown hairs, and embedded,
red-colored bumps everywhere, all exacerbated by extreme sports and a
love of the outdoors. Dermatologists wrote out prescription-level
products, I tried olive oil, scrubbing down with pads, stones, various
food products, commercial care products, and whatnot. Nothing worked.
One of the first things people ask when they meet me is whether I have
allergies to the food or weather, because of the way my skin is marred
and colored. I got your Sandstone bar
one day just because I liked the smell, but a week later, the perplexing
bumps and ingrown hairs were entirely gone -- even from the ubiquitously
tough leg areas. Three weeks later, I bought the
Healing Bar face soap, and no longer
have to deal with the thick sheen of oil and scaly, dry white patches on
my face at the end of the work day. My best friend visited and thought I
had gotten laser skin surgery. I can't even begin to describe how
shocked I was to have nice skin, and neither could she, saying that if
my skin could be saved, she'd end up looking like Nicole Kidman in no
time. She took home two bars and made me promise to ship more to the
west coast, but I'm too busy touching my skin every other minute.
The only thing is, I'm a tad bit upset with you guys for not calling my
dragon-skinned self over the many times I've seen them at the farmer's
market and telling me about the soap earlier. Seriously, if you put this
up on your website, I want everyone out there to get a bar. Now. Unless
you're Nicole Kidman.

The care and knowledge you put in to your
soap and skin products makes the products themselves wonderful and
allows us the personal interaction with the source (you) of a product we
really enjoy. The fact that you made the
Healing Bar for your wife
shows that you not only make your products for others, but that you use
them as well. For us that means a lot. We look forward to trying more of
your wonderful soaps!! Thank you for your talent and knowledge.

My 14 year old daughter affectionately
refers to me as the Body Condiment Queen because I am constantly in
search of products that clean, moisturize and/or make me smell good. I
have tried cheap products and expensive products, mass produced and
handmade but until...I first used my Union Street products, I had not
been satisfied. I purchased the
Eucalyptus & Aloe soap as well as the Lavender Shea Butter and
to say that I am satisfied would be an understatement!!!! I love them
and I look forward to expanding my collection of your soaps. Even my 11
year old son, who generally thinks that soap is overrated, was impressed
by the soft lather and invigorating smell of the soap. I will be a
customer for life!!!

I wanted to commend you on
an excellent product! I happened across your stand at a farmers market
in West Hyattsville at the end of last summer. I had had a very rough
day, and needed a pick me up, so I bought some of your soap. I usually
have very dry skin during the winter and using lotion never takes care
of the job... it usually wears off, or I forget to put it on before I
leave the house. When I mentioned this to you, you offered me a healing
rosemary soap [Healing Bar] for
dry skin. Well, a few months into the winter and I remembered my little
purchase from September. It really did the trick. Thank you for
easing my winter dry skin woes for at least as long as your bar
lasted (which was a lot longer than other homemade soaps I've used in
the past). I of course ran out of it and have been waiting for the
markets to open up again over the summer, but I truly look forward to
seeing your little stand again.

I picked up a bar...of your "Barber Shop"
Original Shaving Soap...and have been using it for about two weeks
now. The smell of eucalyptus is an invigorating scent that tends to perk
me up during my daily, early morning shower routine. Shaving with this
product is made easy as it makes my skin smooth during the process, and
leaves it smooth afterwards. Coming from someone who has always wanted to
avoid the chemically laden products on the supermarket shelf, and who has
always been skeptical of trying some home-made product that promises to
be "natural", I can say that I was truly impressed. I look forward to
trying some of your soaps. Thanks for a great product.

I first became aware of your products through an outdoor market
event and immediately fell in love with the unique scents
and ingredients. The soap
smelled wonderful, and I mean good enough to eat...The lather is
very soft, but without the harshness of detergents. Your soap does not dry
or strip my skin of natural PH and oils so I do not feel dried out, even
on my face...My son, Matthew fell in love with the Pumpkin Pie
[seasonal] fragrance and actually asked
me to buy him his own bar...Can you imagine that, a teenage boy asking for
soap!...In this day and age when I can buy any soap I want, even from
overseas, or fancy cosmetic companies, I have been using only your product
since September of 07 and never want to be without it!
